Laughter really is the best medicine...

Hi!!!  It's almost the weekend and just thinking about it makes me laugh, haha!  Not that I think it's funny but that I survived another week of waking up early and having to go to work...it makes me chuckle. LOL

Ok, the point of this post is to explain how much I like to laugh.  I try every day to laugh at something. Whether it be at a funny story one of my pals tells me, a hilarious movie or show, or at my dog Chloe for puking after she eats too fast and the look on her face once she knows she's going to vomit, (that probably doesn't sound that funny to y'all but you just have to witness it just once). Even if I am having the crappiest day ever, I make it a point to laugh. Try it sometime, it's the best!   I have to show you some funny stuff that never fails to make me almost pee my pants.  First, is the movie Bridesmaids.  It's one of those classic comedies that will always stick with me.  I have so many friends who love the movie as well so we always like to recite the lines together and it kills me!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0yDQvRQQ4E
This clip is the airplane scene where Kristen Wiig gets wasted and embarrasses herself. Good times!

Second, is someecards.  I know you all have visited this website a time or two, or a thousand.  The cards are hilarious and I am even seeing them sold in stores now which is so awesome.  Here is one of my all time favorite cards.... If you haven't ever checked out their website, I highly suggest you do!  http://www.someecards.com
Funny Friendship Ecard: We'll be best friends forever because you already know too much.

Thirdly, is Blunt Cards.  OMG so hilarous!  I have no words to express how funny these cards are.  Some are probably a little offensive to some, but not me.  Here is an example...

Just the look on her face just sends me into laughing convulsions, haha!  www.bluntcard.com

I want to give all  my friends and family a shout out for always making me laugh on a daily basis. You all know who you are and I love you for it!!!!!

New products I am trying!

Hey friends!

I have been reading lately how awesome Oribe hair care products are, and I searched around Richmond to see if any salons carried it and no luck!!!  So I researched the web and decided to take a leap of faith and order some products to play with!

First, is the Dry Texturizing Spray.  This spray has been raved about in magazines on how it acts as a dry shampoo but also builds volume and adds sexy texture! I read in the lastest Cosmopolitan issue that Miley Cyrus is addicted to this spray for lots of weightless texture and volume and since I have a pixie cut I had to have it!  Never fear my long hair friends, this spray is also advertised for all hair types and lengths to add sultry texture and give you that just styled look for days.

Second, is the Rough Luxury Molding Wax.  It is designed for short hair or layered hair types. It is supposed to add texture and separation without weighing the hair down. The website describes this product as the modern approach to pomade which I think is pretty cool.  My order also came with a free sample of their Super shine Light Moisturizing Cream, I LOVE SAMPLES!!!!!

I found that Amazon carried some of these products but only in limited quantities.  So I went directly to their website and they have tons of products for every hair type and also videos to show how the products are used. Here is the website www.oribe.com

I cannot wait to play!!!

 Love you all,
Dinah xoxo

My beauty must haves...

Happy Tuesday my friends!!!

I always appreciate reading other blogs on what he or she loves to incorporate in their daily beauty routine.  I always love to try out new products and play, and over the last several months I have found some favorites that I cannot live without!!  Here are the items that I am so thankful for discovering!

1. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare- Alpha Beta daily face peel (Original Formula). It's not like going to a dermatologist and getting a peel like Samantha did on Sex and the City wink wink!!!!  It's a very gentle two step peel that helps with enlarged pores, blemishes, early signs of aging, dullness and redness. You can use it either in the AM or PM or both if you prefer.   I have very oily, sensitive acne-prone skin and this product has helped tremendously with my complexion. I use it in the morning after I wash my face, and then use a moisturizer with an SPF (warning, this product contains retinol so please be careful to stay out of the sun when using). For more info on this product visit the website

2. Jason body loving products...Okay, I discovered this product in my friend Missi's shower, LOL!!!  My hubby and I didn't have water in our apartment and she lives close by and we hopped on over to shower and I used this body wash and was instantly in LOVE!!!! Jason carries facial soaps, body washes, deodorant, oral care etc.   The body washes are incredible!  They lather up really nice and smell amazing! It comes with a pump and a little goes a long way, and you get so much!!!  My favorite scent is the Calming Lavender. I feel like I am at a spa when I use it, haha!!!   I bought it at Target, and if you live in Richmond, VA you can also purchase at Ellwood Thompson's.  Here is the direct website:  www.jason-personalcare.com

3. Yves Saint Laurent 'Rouge Pur Couture' Lip Color SPF 15...I never used to splurge on lipsticks because I wouldn't wear them enough to want to invest in purchasing, but OMG...now that I love wearing bolder lips this lipstick is just ridiculously amazing!  The colors are so rich and luxurious, and it stays on great through out the day!  I have purchased several of the shades and have been so happy with the them!  My favorite is the bold red in 001 Le Rouge.   I purchase mine at Sephora.   They are a little on the pricey side but I think they are worth it!  www.Sephora.com
I will definitely post more must haves as I find them!!!!  I would love your feedback, if you have any questions feel free to email me @ sunshinesuperglam@gmail.com   I am also on Twitter!  https://twitter.com/DGacon

Have an awesome day friends,
xoxo Dinah

Oscars faves for 2013

Hello my pals!!!

So, as promised I wanted to post my favorite looks of the oscars last night!  I started by pouring a glass of delicious cabernet and took notes so I would not miss out!  I tuned in to E! to watch all the arrivals and I was drooling haha!!!  I wish I could be a part of such a worldly event, I would want to do it all.  Style the stars, the makeup and of course the HAIR!!!!   I was in awe at some of the old holly wood sleek styles last night.  Just so beautiful that I may have shed a tear at some point ;-)   Ok, so here are my faves from the evening.

Jessica Chastain looked to die for!  Her gorgeous Giorgio Armani gown, her soft and sleek curls, and those RED LIPS!!!  I could not stop looking at her.  If there could be an oscar for best dressed, she would get my vote hands down!   Oh Jessica, you glamtastic thing you ;-)  hehe.

Kerry Washington was so beautiful!  Her bright and bold Miu Miu gown was such a stunner, not to mention her Prada clutch and jewels by Fred Leighton.  Loved the details of the bodice and how it just made her makeup and skin pop!  High Five Kerry, if you ever wanted to lend me that gown that would be amazing!

Amanda Seyfried's dress gave me goosebumps, literally. Her Alexander McQueen gown was so gorgeous, all the details and the neckline was just spectacular!  Loved her up do, it went hand in hand with her gown. She is such a natural beauty!

Sandra Bullock looked soooo good!  Her cap sleeve Elie Saab dress along with her Harry Winston jewels were a sight for sore eyes!!!!  She never seems to age or change, she always looks beautiful!  Sandra, your the bomb!

Amy Adams's Oscar de la Renta gown was exquisite!  Loved the beaded bodice and the tulle-embellished skirt.  She looked so angelic and classic!  Her hair was perfect for that dress!!!  I give her the sunshine super glam stamp of approval for sure!

I was disappointed in a few of the looks last night.  I had high expectations for Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence.  Both of their looks were just okay.  I didn't like Jennifer Lawrence's hair or gown.  As a hair stylist I paid close attention to her hair and I could literally see hair pins sticking out of her hair in the back....I kept thinking, that is crazy!   Her dress kind of reminded me of a wedding cake (LOL)!!!  Some of you may disagree and that is completely fine.  We are all entitled to our opinions.   Anne Hathaway's prada dress really did not do anything for me....it just wasn't what I imagined her wearing as a Oscar nominee.  She has worn much better gowns at past award shows, that I just envisioned a knock out amazing dress and she didn't look the part to me.

My favorite part of the evening was the "Les Miserables" performance.  I always get teary eyed because that musical brings back so many memories of high school and performing it in choir.

Anywho, that's all I have for now!!!   I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Love ya,
Dinah xoxo

The perfect Saturday...

Happy weekend!!!

Today has been the laziest of all days, and I have enjoyed every minute of it.  Life can get so hectic and busy it just feels good to lay around in your pajamas (I call them jammies).  Watching movies, and reading my favorite fashion mags are the bomb!  In fact, I was able to read the latest Vogue, Glamour, Cosmo, and In Style, it was so nice!  I found a lot of fun ideas to write about and tons of glam to dish!

Are you all excited for the Oscars tomorrow?  I am so pumped.  I love seeing all the red carpet previews before the show starts, and I am really looking forward to seeing Seth Macfarlane host this year.  I think he is super funny and talented.   I am so curious to see all the fashion tomorrow.  Especially the hair styles and accessories.  Here are a few of my favorites from last year.

Michelle Williams could seriously wear a paper bag and would look beautiful.  This particular dress just makes me smile. She looked absolutely perfect!  I look forward to see what she wears this year because she is such a classic beauty.  She inspired me to chop all my hair off last year.

Rooney Mara looked incredible to me.  In my opinion she was one of the best dressed that evening.  Her portrayal in the Girl With a Dragon Tattoo was insane.  I totally thought she deserved the oscar last year.  I also cannot get over her bangs...seriously those bangs are just WOAH!  HAHA!

Emma Stone is such a cutie pie!!!  I just want to call her up and be like "Wanna go shopping"?  ;-)  I think she is another lady who could pull off so many different styles!!  Her dress was beautiful and her hair looked so classic and chic!

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend.  Stay tuned for some more sunshine!

xoxo Dinah

What inspires me....

Hello my friends!!!

There are so many things that inspire me daily. Sometimes it's a movie, a particular artist or song, or just a person walking down the street.  If I listed it all right now it would literally take me days and days.   So, I will just list a few for now!

First, is the amazing Sofia Coppola's biopic of the  iconic "Marie Antoinette" starring the beautiful Kirsten Dunst.  Every time I watch this movie I become so inspired to try a new hair trend on a client or  new makeup.  The colors, costumes, the amazing hair, and THE MUSIC just blows my mind.  I love how Sofia incorporated 80's first wave music into this film.  The soundtrack is so amazing, I listen to it daily! If you haven't watched this jem of a movie you should, it rocks!!!!

Second, is Debby Harry.  Everyone knows her as "Blondie".  She knocks my socks off!  If I could go back in time and watch her perform "Rip her to shreds" and "Tide is high",  I would be jammin right along with her. Her look is timeless.

Thirdly, is Jack White.  He is seriously one of my all time favorite musicians.  His guitar skills are sick and he is also pretty easy on the eyes in my opinion.  His bands "The White Stripes",  "The Raconteurs", "The Dead Weather", and last but not least his solo stuff just makes me wanna run a marathon and then sing on top of a mountain, haha!!!

Those peeps are just a small amount of inspiration that gets me moving daily.  I am so thankful for them!

What inspires you daily?  I would love to hear it!

I'm excited it's Friday.  I am going on a date with a special lady, her name is Jess Seitz.  Do you know her?  If not you should, she's rad!!!!

Love ya's

Hi everyone!!!

Hey hey!!

It has been a dream of mine lately to start my own blog.   A place where I can release ideas, dreams, goals, and inspirations.  First of all, I would like to explain where the title of my blog came from.  Growing up I always was exposed to great music back in the 60's, 70's and 80's thanks to my family. One of the  artists who I still listen to and love today is Donovan.  Who is Donovan you ask?  Donovan is the singer who came out with "Mellow Yellow", "Season of the Witch", and last but certainly not the least "Sunshine Superman".   Well Sunshine Superman has always been a favorite song of mine and I thought to myself, I think that I offer a lot of sunshine and can dish out a lot of glam ;-)   So I changed it up a little and thought of "Sunshine Super Glam"!   I am proud of the title and hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Here is some more info about me.  I am a original mid western girl from the good ol' mitten (aka Michigan).  I grew up in a small town and after I graduated high school I decided that I wanted to become a stylist to the stars (wink wink)  someday I will get there!   So I went to cosmetology school and finished to be a licensed professional.  I met the man of my dreams (my husband now) and moved to sunny Florida.  I learned so much during my 20's and am so grateful of all the experiences that I was able to have during those years.  I now reside in Richmond, VA and could not be happier.  I love to laugh and enjoy time with my dear family and friends.  I currently do hair as a side project right now since my hubster and I have moved around a lot for his job promotions.  I do plan to get back in full swing as soon as I know I am ready to make the switch.

Anywho, that is a little about me.  I hope to bring you all a lot of sunshine and lots of glamtastic stuff to come.

Hugs to you all,
xoxo Dinah
